Frequently Asked Questions (the details you need to know!)
1. What are the times for pick-up and drop-off?
· Drop-off: No earlier than 8:50 am
· Pick-up: *Make sure a staff person knows that you are taking your child home.
Little People: between 11:30 and 11:45
2-3’s: between 11:45-12:00
3-4’s and 4-5’s: 12:00
Lunch Bunch: before 1 pm
2. Where can I park?
· While dropping-off or picking-up, you may park in the loading zone (pull forward so that 3 cars can fit in).
· If you have only one child, please be considerate of parents with a toddler in the car and let them park in the loading zone.
· In all other cases you can park along the street, observing the No Parking signs. Use the walk as a time to talk with your child about the day and get some exercise for yourself.
3. How do I find out what is happening at the Creative Learning Center?
· Read the white board on the front porch.
· Look for information in your child’s folder in the “Take Home Box” on the front porch.
· Check the website www.CreativeLearningCenterOnline.com
· Check the monthly calendar posted and distributed in your child’s folder.
4. Where should I leave a change of clothes and a coat/sweater for my child?
· Hang coat/sweater at your child’s spot on the rack.
· Put a change of clothes in a labeled 1–gallon bag and put in your child’s cubby.
· Label all clothes. (Can use masking tape, name on label, etc.)
5. I have a child who wears diapers. What should I do with diapers for use during the day?
· Write your child’s name with ball point pen in BIG letters on the diapers.
· Place one of these labeled diapers in the basket in the bathroom.
· Leave other diapers (2-3) in the child’s cubby.
6. What do I do if my child is staying for Lunch Bunch (additional fee of $4.50 for LP; $4 for others)
· Put your child’s labeled lunchbox (no peanuts) in the container inside the front door.
· Mark your child’s name on the clipboard above this container.
· Arrive to pick up your child before 1 pm. Late fee after 1 pm. $5 first 15 minutes.
7. How do I pay for tuition?
· Payment is to be made one month in advance, due on the 1st day of the month (October tuition is due by Sept. 1; November tuition is due by Oct. 1; etc.)
· Place your check or cash within a labeled envelope inside the wooden box just inside the front door.
· Checks do not have to be in an envelope. (A recycled envelope is fine. Just label.)
· Lunch bunch is billed after the 10th of the month by Ms. Jan. $25 fee for returned checks. Check with Othella or Jan if you need us to hold your check.
8. What should I do when I’m a parent helper?
· Meet with the Director to get your assignment, depending on the day’s needs.
· Arrive by 8:50 a.m. and get your child settled in their classroom.
· Put your personal items in the office (or leave in the trunk of your car).
· Put on a nametag and apron (can be found on the back of the office door.)
9. What should I do if I’m signed up to bring the snack?
· Bring a healthy snack for 35 people, primarily children. No peanuts.
· Place on the kitchen counter or if necessary, in the refrigerator. Take out of the bag.
· Let the staff know what you brought and where it is. Tell Nora.
· No drinks are needed—everyone drinks water!
· Label your containers so we can return them.
10. What is the policy for weather-related delays?
· The CLC follows the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County (WSFC) school system and CLC is closed if public schools are closed. Check the WSFC school announcements here.
· If a 1-hour delay for WSFC, the CLC starts on time-9:00 am.
· If a 2-hour delay for WSFC, the CLC opens at 10:00 a.m.
· Information is posted on WXII and WFDD.
11. When is my child too sick to come to the CLC? (See Handbook for FULL details)
Keep your child at home if your child has…
· Temperature over 100 degrees F
· A sore throat with a fever
· Vomiting or diarrhea in the previous 24 hours
· Cough accompanied by fever
· Pink eye (Conjunctivitis)
· Discharge from the nose that is thick and green12. Will I get my photos back?
· Yes, either in the portfolio or with a piece of art for an exhibit or gift.
· No last names will ever be used with a child’s photo.
· For some children the “required” family photo may be the only one of everyone in the photo since one person tends to take all the photos.
· Grandparent photos with the child and information shared will be treasures in the future.
13. Are grandparents or family members welcome to visit?
· Yes, the child enjoys having them visit and showing his or her grandparents/family/friend the classroom and playground.
· Since space is limited, we ask adults to sit in a chair or on the floor and interact with the children if they are going to spend time with us.
· Special talents or skills or art forms to share are interesting to share. Plan with the teacher ahead for this, please.
